Empowering Young Women Through Music

Girls Rock! Pittsburgh is a music and empowerment program for girls ages 8-16.

Our mission is to foster confidence, encourage creative expression, and create community for girls and women through music.

Girls Rock! Pittsburgh is an LGBTQ inclusive and affirming organization.

Thank you for your interest in Girls Rock! Pittsburgh Summer Camp!

Our summer camp is a week-long program for girls ages 8-18. Campers attend instrument lessons, form a band, collaboratively write an original song, participate in daily music and empowerment-related workshops, and perform with their band at a live showcase at the end of the week.

Summer 2014 Dates:

Session 1: June 23rd - 27th @ The Wilkins School Community Center  // Showcase June 28th
Session 2: August 4th - 8th @ Winchester Thurston // Showcase August 9th

Showcases take place on Saturday afternoon from 4-7pm (time is tentative), and all campers will participate in the showcase.

Which Girls Rock! camp would you like to attend? *
We ask this so that we can be sure we are able to best serve our campers and have adequate staff on hand if special attention is needed. In no way will this affect whether or not your camper is accepted into camp.
Will you need financial aid? *
It is our mission to be accessible to all girls regardless of their families' financial situation. Tuition is $350, but we have a sliding scale to be more accessible. Requesting financial aid will not affect your chances of getting into camp and we encourage you to ask for assistance if you need it. We offer full and partial scholarships, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.
The following serves only as a guideline, and is not a strict determination of how much financial aid you will receive. Please consider your family income, resources, and dependents in the household when determining your financial aid request amount. This process is honor-based and confidential.

Due to our limited funds, we cannot afford to grant every financial aid request, and we prioritize families with the greatest need.

Household income above $60,000: We are generally able to consider financial aid for this income range only in extreme, extenuating circumstances.

$250-350 [Household income between $45,000 and $60,000: Tuition range = $250-$350. We generally grant financial aid to families within this income range only if they have multiple dependents or extenuating circumstances.]

$150-250 [Household income between $35,000 and $45,000: Tuition range = $150-$250. We generally grant financial aid to families within this income range only if they have multiple dependents or extenuating circumstances.]

$50-150 [Household income between $25,000 and $35,000: Tuition range = $50-$150. Please indicate how much you can pay for tuition or request full financial aid if needed (i.e. if you have several dependents, recent job loss, medical hardship, etc.)]

$0-50 [Household income under $25,000: Tuition range = $0-$50. Most of our full financial aid goes to campers from households with a total annual income of less than $25,000]

This information will help us in our grant writing efforts!
To Be Completed By the Camper:
We'd like to hear from potential Girls Rock! Pittsburgh campers about why you want to participate. THE EXPRESS YOURSELF PIECE IS NOT FOR JUDGEMENT PURPOSES. Please write a brief letter about yourself (parents/guardians should not write this letter on behalf of the applicant). You can also tell us why you want to attend rock camp through a drawing, painting, song, video, etc. Paper pieces should be no more than 8.5" x 11" and can be mailed or emailed to us. You can type the letter directly into the space below, or send it via email to info@girlsrockpittsburgh.org, or by mail to Girls Rock! Pittsburgh @ 801 S. Braddock Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15221
Girls Rock! camp, or another. If so, which one?
No experience is necessary, but let us know what experience you have, if any. How long have you been playing? Have you had lessons? Have you played this instrument at camp before? Or are you trying this instrument for the first time?
What is your first choice instrument to play at camp? *
We take this into consideration when forming bands and we would love to be able to give everyone their first choice, but we only have so many instruments, so be open to stepping up and embracing a second or third choice!
What is your second choice instrument to play at camp? *
